Hi friends,
Happy 4th of July.
Whether you’re celebrating with family, lighting sparklers, or just enjoying a slower day—this time of year always makes me reflect on a different kind of freedom: the freedom we create for ourselves.
As entrepreneurs, we didn’t take the traditional path. We chose independence.
But sometimes, without realizing it, we build businesses that depend on us so heavily—we lose the freedom we were chasing in the first place.
This past week, I came across an AI prompt that reminded me of that.
It asked me to imagine a personal advisor. Not just any advisor—but someone brilliant, bold, and honest. The kind of person who’s built billion-dollar businesses and doesn’t let you hide behind busyness. Someone who tells you the truth even when it’s uncomfortable.
This is what that voice said to me:
“You’re doing too much. You’re playing too small. And it’s time to get out of your own way.”
At first, I flinched. Then I exhaled—and listened.
They weren’t wrong.
I started looking at everything I’ve taken on, everything I’ve said “yes” to, and how much of it is still dependent on me. And I realized: I can’t grow the way I want unless I change the way I lead.
If any of this hits home for you too, I wrote down the exact steps I took to get clear.
The 3 Moves That Shifted Everything
1. Create a “Replace Me” Map
List out everything you do in your business—day-to-day, week-to-week.
Then sort it:
- Can someone else do this 80% as well?
- Is this something I’ve been avoiding systemizing?
- Or is this something only I can do?
Let that be your new lens. Let go of what no longer needs you.
2. Pick Your One Thing
You can’t grow five things at once. Choose the one that has the clearest path to real growth—financially and creatively.
Ask yourself:
- What has the potential to grow to $10M+ in the next 3 years?
- Where do I already have traction or an unfair advantage?
- What lights me up and makes sense?
Write it down. Say it out loud. That’s the beginning of commitment.
3. Let Go of What’s Holding You Back
You already know what’s draining you. It could be a project, a task, a person, or an idea you’ve outgrown. It’s okay to let it go.
Give yourself permission to move forward without it.
