“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.” — Henry David Thoreau
Every entrepreneur’s journey is filled with moments of growth, expansion, and unknowns.
With each new challenge comes the opportunity to meet life with fresh eyes and an open heart.
The most powerful shifts often happen not because circumstances change, but because we learn to see differently.
This is the Art of Seeing.
Two people can look at the same challenge and see completely different stories.
- One sees a failure. The other, a gift in disguise.
- One feels closed in. The other sees a nudge toward a new direction.
- One sees competition. The other sees connection.
What you see is a reflection of the lens you wear. And that lens can be softened and reshaped—through presence, through practice, and through the grace of mindfulness. This is the heart of the Art of Seeing.
Mindfulness: A Return to Clarity

After two years of devoted study and practice, I recently completed the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (MMTCP) under the soulful mentorship of Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. This transformative journey was offered through the Awareness Training Institute in collaboration with Sounds True and the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley.
Mindfulness is the art of coming home—to the breath, to the body, to this one precious moment. And for the entrepreneur, it becomes a compass. It helps us:
- Listen before we leap.
- Respond with kindness instead of urgency.
- See our inner world with honesty and love.
- Lead from a grounded, heart-centered space.
This mindful awareness is part of the Art of Seeing — to witness what is truly present with softness, wisdom, and care.
A Practice to Shift Your Perspective
Let this be your personal practice in the Art of Seeing when you feel stuck or overwhelmed.
1. Breathe and Be
Place your hand on your heart. Breathe slowly. Feel yourself settle.
2. Greet What’s Arising
What story are you telling yourself right now? Is it harsh, fearful, or full of doubt? Speak to it softly.
3. Ask From the Heart
- What is this moment trying to reveal to me?
- How might this be a turning point, not a dead end?
- What would love say right now?
4. Reframe with Compassion
Find a new story that honors your experience—but invites growth. Instead of “I failed,” try “I am learning what matters.”
5. Remember Your Why
Close your eyes. Call forth your deeper mission. Let it hold you steady.
6. One Step Forward
What is the next loving, aligned action you can take? Do that. Trust that it is enough.
