Dear friend,
Sometimes in business, things go quiet. You’re not sure what’s next. The vision feels hazy. You’re doing what you can, but it’s not clicking. It can feel like drifting.
While I was in Ko Olina recently, I filmed a catamaran rocking gently out in the open water.
No engine. No urgency.
Just the waves and the wind deciding the pace. And I thought:
This is what it feels like when you’re in between. Between what was and what could be.
If that’s where you are right now, I want to say this clearly:
You’re not failing. You’re not falling behind. You may just be in the middle of becoming.
Sometimes, what we think of as “stuck” is actually a pause. A reset. A quiet invitation to see things differently. One of my favorite teachings comes from Thích Nhất Hạnh:
“For things to reveal themselves to us, we need to be ready to abandon our views about them.”
This includes abandoning the view that where you are is wrong.
You might just need to start again—with less pressure. With a beginner’s mind.
A Soft Step-by-Step Guide for Entrepreneurs Who Feel Stuck
1. Pause.
Don’t try to force clarity. Close your laptop. Breathe. Take a walk. Give yourself even five minutes without reaching for a solution.
2. Ask: What story am I holding?
Is it: “I should have figured this out by now”?
“I missed my window”?
“I’m not doing enough”?
Recognize the thought without turning it into truth.
3. Try beginner’s mind.
Beginner’s mind says: What if I don’t need to know yet?
What would I see if I was just starting this business today?
This approach helps unlock fresh ideas without judgment.
4. Soften your grip.
Let go of the timelines. The expectations. The comparison.
Your pace is not supposed to look like anyone else’s.
5. Take one small, curious step.
Something light. Something that brings you back to life.
Write one idea down. Call someone you trust.
Or simply make space for rest.
